Amila Akagic is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Informatics at the the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Sarajevo. Her research encompasses a broad spectrum of subjects, including Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Digital Signal Processing, Computer Architectures, and Embedded Systems.

Prof. Dr. Akagic holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Sarajevo, earned in 2006 and 2009, respectively. She completed her Ph.D. at Keio University, Japan, in 2013. With over 50 papers published in prestigious international journals and conferences, she has made substantial contributions across several scientific disciplines.

Prof. Dr. Akagic was recently involved in the development of the new Data Science and Artificial Intelligence study program at the University of Sarajevo, which launched in October 2024. This groundbreaking program is the first of its kind in the region, and it is set to transform the educational landscape by equipping students with cutting-edge knowledge in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
