Edhem (Eddie) Custovic, Ph.D. is an award-winning engineer, entrepreneur, and academic with more than 17 years of experience across research & development, technology commercialization, organizational leadership, and operations.

He is the Managing Director of Scientific Instruments Australia, delivering cutting-edge imaging and measurement solutions for plant and algae research, particularly in chlorophyll fluorescence and reflectance techniques. As a Partner at GIS People, he supports strategic growth and partnerships, while as a General Partner at Cloud Health EuroVentures, he invests in early-stage health and life sciences ventures.

Edhem has held senior academic roles, including 15 years at La Trobe University, Australia. He is a long-standing member of the IEEE, where he has served on several global boards and became one of the youngest senior leaders in the organization. His leadership and global impact were recognized with the 2022 IEEE Theodore W. Hissey Outstanding Young Professional Award.

In 2015, together with his brother Resad, he co-founded the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation, a philanthropic initiative that empowers youth through education, technology, and leadership. The foundation has become the largest and most influential not-for-profit in Bosnia & Herzegovina. A multicultural, multilingual professional, Edhem brings a “borderless” perspective to his work and is an active contributor to media and conferences on topics of engineering, technology, entrepreneurship, and youth development.
